Unifeeder upgrades its sceduled routes

The largest Shortsea network in North Europe is getting bigger and better. From October 2014, Unifeeder will offer a significant upgrade of the scheduled routes connecting the European peninsula with Russia, Finland and the Baltic States

  • Five weekly sailings, of which four are direct between Hamburg and St. Petersburg
  • Two weekly direct sailings between Rotterdam and St. Petersburg
After the schedule upgrade, Unifeeder will have 21 departures in total every week connecting the European peninsula with Russia, Finland and the Baltic ports - an unrivalled network and frequency upgrade.


While other market participants downgrade and shut down routes, Unifeeder, with this move, aims at providing the schedules and the service reliability that exporters and importers request.


- Our unique business model, which combines Feeder cargo with Shortsea cargo enables us to make this move that will benefit both our Feeder customers and the large intercontinental carriers, as well as our Shortsea customers, who are always asking for higher frequency, shorter transits and reliable schedules, says Jesper Kristensen, CEO of Unifeeder.


With five weekly departures from Hamburg to St. Petersburg, shippers do not need to plan their production to fit a specific departure day. Shippers and importers can minimize interim storage in ports as they can ship smaller lots more frequently, avoid bottlenecks in transit, and benefit from the increased reliability of the floating conveyor belt that Unifeeder strives to provide.
